RE: Cracking windshields

One thing Tiffin has going for them is excellent factory service. Strangely, the thing they have against them is excellent factory service. You don't hear a lot about the factory service for Newmar's. Funny thing though, nobody ever needs it. The best factory service is no service needed. Then again, what do I know? Are you saying Newmar has no factory service center? Thats strange, I know one newmar owner that had to keep taking his back to the factory for problems, I wonder who did his work?

RE: Goodyear G670's whats your experience?

Some of them have a problem with rivering on one edge, mine started at a little over 20k miles. I moved them to the rear and they are still wearing pretty fast so we will see how long they last.

RE: Got to be a scam

Are you people really that gullible to believe that could be for real? It's no wonder these scammers stay in business.

RE: Handy gadget everyone needs

Just what we need, another gadget to watch instead of paying attention to where you are going. I've been driving over 50 years without an accident so I will just do it the old fashion way, pay attention. I'm sure there are some people that will have to have it just so they will have something to talk about.

RE: Flying J changes credit price on Diesel Fuel at truck pumps

We gave up on FJ for fuel because of their discontinuing the cash for credit price at the truck pumps. Last trip, there were large trucks all over the RV pumps to get the discount so we just aborted and found that regular Mobile or Shell stations had much cheaper prices than the credit price at FJ. Downside is the pumps were slower. Upside is there was no waiting. We use our Pentagon Federal CC which gives a 5% discount on all fuel, even large quantities of diesel. That, my friends, is one heck of a discount.Large trucks? Surely you are not saying semi's were in the rv lanes. Were these large trucks pulling rvs? were they just pick ups? Would you describe these large trucks?

RE: Camping World RV Sales talking the talk...

Have you seen the ads that say the MFG will not let them advertise their low prices? The ones that come to mind are Newmar dealers. Then there is the dealer in TX that advertises as much as 40% off.

RE: What's Missing???

It is a scam, I received an email from him confirming the price in the ad is correct. I sent a reply asking when I could look at it so waiting on the email telling me he is in the military and will have to have some money up front before he can show it.

RE: motorhome purchase new/used plan

The Zephyr is on a Spartan chassis, the Allegro Bus uses freightliner, spartan and Tiffins own powerglide chassis. I wouldn't worry about Tiffin not being around, they will be one of the last ones standing. They have built their business on customer service and there is no other company that can match it.

RE: What's Missing???

Sounds like another scam. $141,000 is a great price, $41,000 is a mistake or a scam.

RE: Camping World RV Sales talking the talk...

You CAN sell at cost, you take the total of all of your cost for rent, salaries, and anything else you pay out for including the salesmans bonus add that to the cost of the MH. How can you lose? You're still still selling at cost, just not for the cost of the MH.

RE: Velvac Mirror Part

Where is the best place to buy Velvac mirror parts. It is an 18 inch chrome arm part #C709531. Very expensive. Velvac suggested that I try a dealer. ThanksBy Velvac telling you to contact a dealer I guess it is passed the 5 year warranty. Will they not sell you the part or are you wanting it cheaper than their price? Check with all of the dealers of your brand of MH, maybe they have replaced some mirrors under warranty and still have the old ones. It's a long shot but you may get lucky.

RE: NADA Dealer Cost

I have been told that the full (large) NADA book contains holesale, retail, MSRP and dealer cost for various motor coaches. If anyone is familiar with the NADA book and has one, I would appreciate them looking up this information for a 2008 Phaeton 36 QSH. I realize there is the base price of a coach plus options, but I am looking for typical numbers or average numbers. Thank you.Take the MSRP, deduct 25% and that is the price it should sell for. A little less discount from some dealers and maybe a little more from others. What the dealer cost is dosen't matter, even if you knew it would not change the selling price.

RE: NADA Dealer Cost

Options don't count. Retail $150,870 Wholesale / Trade In $120,696Have you even looked in a NADA book? The options are listed there along with the "adds" for each. The one thing you have to watch for is that things listed as options may not have been options on that particular model. Our DSDP came with three slides, so even though slides are listed as an option, they're in the base price. The inverter was a true option so we would add that to the base listed. Our 10 gallon water heater is standard so no add, however, the option for water heating on the road was an option so add for it. Some dealers will lie (surprise!) and tell you the options don't count. NADA says otherwise. It really doesn't matter what NADA says, the dealer is the one you have to deal with. If you are buying you will have to pay what he says, if you are trading you will have to take what he gives.

RE: Interesting development - Shortage of used Class "A"s??

Depends on your definition of "near future". In the next year, no, in the next two, three or four years, yes. This is not the end of rving, things will get back to normal and all of this will be forgotten. That is if the next pres does not raise taxes and get us into a bigger mess.

RE: Journey or Astoria

So why is the Winnie slightly used? I would have to know before I bought it. Was it a lemon and traded off?

RE: Class A Pending Purchase

One more suggestion no one mentioned, be sure you buy one that still has factory support. It helps if you have someone you can call with questions and get parts without having to go thru a dealer.

RE: black lines appearing on rv ceiling

Yes, its a diesel and it has a fabric ceiling.I think what you have is common in older diesels, it's not moisture or mold. I always thought it was soot from the exhaust but do not know how it could get in the ceiling. If you look I will bet the marks are at the seams of the ceiling panels. I used Blue Coral dry clean from Wal Mart toclean mine but there may be something better now.
